Margrethe, the Queen of Denmark and the last reigning sovereign in Europe, has stripped four of her eight grandchildren (i.e. children of her youngest son Prince Joachim) of their titles of nobility: Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena, aged between 10 and 23, had expressed the wish to “live more normal lives”. “The queen does not want them to be limited by the great obligations that the institution imposes” wrote the Royal Household in a note.
