Published in 1967, ‘Nye noveller’ (‘New Short Stories’) is a short story collection by Norwegian author Johan Borgen that won the ‘Nordic Council Literature Prize‘ the same year. Borgen worked as an editor, critic and feature writer for a few Norwegian newspapers. He wrote several critical articles during the Nazi occupation, which led him to be arrested by the Gestapo (1941) and imprisoned in the Grini concentration camp. His literary breakthrough came in the 1950s when he published the novel trilogy ‘Lillelord’, which united an in-depth psychological perspective and a realistic portrayal of an era.
