According to Michael Busk-Jepsen, head of digitalisation at ‘Finance Denmark’, no bank robberies occurred in Denmark during 2022. Among the main reasons: only twenty branches with deposit and withdrawal staff (compared to two thousand ATMs); improved security systems compared to the past; above all, the disappearance of cash (according to data from the ‘Danish Central Bank‘, only 12% of transactions are in cash). If banks are safe, there are plenty of flat thieves: Denmark ranks eighth in the world (third in Europe, after Greece and Sweden) for house burglaries: 694 per 100000 inhabitants, according to the world report compiled by the company ‘Budget Direct’ for 2021. Thefts in Danish flats, however, are steadily decreasing: from 93000 thefts in 2011 to 30000 in 2021. Unfortunately, in only 15% of the cases the thieves were arrested.
