We are thrilled to announce that this year’s CPH:DOX will open with the Greenlandic-Danish film ‘Twice Colonized’ by Lin Alluna. The film is also selected for the NEXT:WAVE competition category for debut and emerging filmmakers. The opening of CPH:DOX 2023 will take place on 15 March at the international concert venue in Copenhagen, DR Koncerthuset.

How can we rewrite the history of colonialism and improve living conditions for Indigenous people? These questions are raised by Danish filmmaker Lin Alluna and renowned Inuit lawyer and activist Aaju Peter in ‘Twice Colonized’. The film takes us on a journey alongside Aaju Peter who through the social and personal wreckage of sanctioned white dominance, transforms hardship into something amazing and empowering that can inspire others to make a difference. ‘Twice Colonized’ can be seen in several cinemas in Copenhagen during this year’s CPH:DOX. The film is produced by Emile Hertling Péronard (Ánorâk Film) in co-production with Alethea Arnaquq-Baril and Stacey Aglok MacDonald (Red Marrow Media) and Bob Moore (EyeSteelFilm). Read more about the film here and stay tuned for 21 February when the full festival program of CPH:DOX 2023 will be announced.
