Keke Rosberg is a Finnish former racing driver who competed in Formula One from 1978 to 1986. Rosberg started his career in karting and then moved up to Formula Vee and Formula Atlantic before making his Formula One debut with Theodore Racing in 1978. He then moved to the Wolf team for the 1979 season, where he scored his first podium finish and first victory at the Austrian Grand Prix. Rosberg joined the Fittipaldi team in 1980, but the team struggled and he failed to score any points. In 1981, Rosberg joined the Williams team, where he had the most successful years of his career. He won his first Grand Prix with Williams in Switzerland and finished the season in fifth place.
In 1982, Rosberg won his first and only Formula One World Championship, despite only winning one race that season (the Swiss Grand Prix). He is the first Finnish F1 World Champion, followed by Mika Häkkinen (1998, 1999) and Kimi Räikkönen (2007). During the 1982 season he did beat his teammate, the highly regarded British driver and reigning World Champion, Alan Jones. Rosberg continued to race for Williams until the end of the 1985 season, winning a total of five races with the team. He then moved to McLaren for the 1986 season, but failed to win a race and retired from Formula One at the end of the season. In total, Rosberg competed in 128 Grand Prix races, winning 5 of them and scoring a total of 159 points. He is remembered as a talented driver who was capable of great speed, but who was also known for his aggressive and sometimes controversial driving style. Keke is the father of Nico Rosberg, 2016 F1 World Champion with Mercedes.
