Atlantic Airways, flag carrier of the Faroe Islands, has listed New York Stewart International (SWF) as an upcoming destination: the airport is located 90′ north of New York City and is notable for welcoming other Northern Atlantic carriers like PLAY and, previously, Norwegian. The flights will begin on August 22nd for a limited seasonal service: the service will take approximately six hours and is expected to operate until October 4th to take advantage of the increased summer months demand. Atlantic Airways will operate the weekly link between New York and Vágar, the sole airport on the Faroe Islands, which serves the capital of Tórshavn. The service will be conducted on an Airbus A320neos: the aircraft will depart on Tuesdays from the Faroe Islands and will spend the night in New York before returning eastbound on Wednesdays.
