Caroline Wozniacki (11 July 1990) is a Danish professional tennis player: she was ranked world No. 1 in singles for a total of 71 weeks, including at the end of 2010 and 2011, the first from a Scandinavian country to hold the top position. In 2017, Wozniacki won the WTA Finals in Singapore, against Venus Williams. In 2018, by winning the Australian Open against Simona Halep, she became the first Dane to win a major singles title. Caroline Wozniacki announced her retirement ahead of the 2020 Australian Open, only to announce at the end of June 2023 her comeback for the US Open of the same year. She intends to play in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and has asked Holger Rune to join her for the mixed double: Rune accepted her proposal.
