Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has announced that on December 14 Finland will reopen the border-crossing points of Vaalimaa and Nirala. Following a rapid growth in illegal border traffic, on November 18 Finland had closed four of its border-crossing points to Russia: Valimaa, Nuijamaa, Niirala and Imatra. The border-crossing points in the north of the country remained open. Orpo stated that he is ready to revert this decision, should Russia resume favouring irregular migration.
