Víkingur Reykjavík men’s association football team was elected Icelandic team of the year 2023 by the Association of Sports Journalists. Víkingur became Iceland’s champion with 11 points more than Valur, who finished second, and improved the record of points (66) in the Besta Deildin league. The team also won the Icelandic cup for the fourth time in a row, after winning 3-1 against KA in the final. Víkingur‘s coach Arnar Gunnlaugsson was also elected coach of the year.
