Held annually since 1956 (apart from 2020), Eurovision is the longest-running annual international televised music competition and one of the world’s longest-running television programmes. As of 2023, 52 countries have participated at least once, with Sweden holding the record for most wins (7) together with Ireland. Here follow the victories for each of the Nordic countries:
Sweden (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015, 2023)
Norway (1985, 1995, 2009)
Denmark (1963, 2000, 2013)
Finland (2006)
Iceland (-)
The only multiple winner artist from the Nordics is the Swedish singer Loreen, who won in 2012 and 2023. Notably, ABBA won for Sweden in 1974, later on becoming world superstars. Hardly an enviable record, Finland and Norway hold the joint record for most times in the last place: 10. Sweden hosted the Eurovision 6 times, turning 7 in 2024 (Stockholm 3, Malmö 3 including the 2024 edition, Gothenburg 1); Denmark 3 times (all in Copenhagen); Norway 3 times (2 Oslo, 1 Bergen); Finland 1 (Helsinki).
