This year marks the 20th anniversary of the famed Westfjords music festival ‘Aldrei fór ég suður’, which was first held over Easter weekend in Ísafjörður in 2004. The musician Mugison, from Ísafjörður, and his father came up with the idea of holding a music festival in the Westfjords in 2003 at a time that saw Iceland’s indie scene booming, while most of the activity was centered in Reykjavík. The festival has always been free of charge. Among others, both ‘Of monsters and men‘ and ‘Nanna‘ will perform at Aldrei.
