‘Baseball: bambini in serie A’ translates as ‘Baseball: børn i de store ligaer‘ in Danish or ‘Baseball: lapset suurissa liigoissa‘ in Finnish

Italy has come up with what seems to be a nice way of promoting baseball at grassroots level: inviting children (who already play ball), along with their friends (who don’t) and families, to a series of ‘EliteSerien‘ games, where they can meet the players, act as batboys/girls, play together and so on. A clever, inexpensive way of widening the audience and attracting attention. Baseball may not be as popular in the Nordic countries as it is in Italy, Germany or the Netherlands, but the status of the game can certainly be improved where there is an active league, as in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
