The activity of the eruption is constant, still erupting in two places. The rims of the crater are starting to pile up, low seismicity in the area. Important to monitor the gas distribution forecast.

Updated August 25 at 8:50 am

An eruption has begun in the Sundhnúks crater: the duration of the eruption has remained unchanged for the last hour. Seismic activity now remains fairly steady and is most active at the northern end of the fissure. Therefore, it is unlikely that the eruption will occur further south. It cannot be ruled out that the eruption may extend further to the north. The lava flow continues to the east and to the west towards Grindavíkurvegi. There is no lava flow to the south towards Grindavík. The Norwegian Meteorological Agency has updated the risk assessment that is valid until 15:00 today, Friday, August 23.
