Glommersträsk (Lapland) is offering 10,000 Swedish kronor cash to five new families willing to relocate there: in 1950, the village had a population of around 1,000 while now only 200 people live there, 23 of the age to attend primary school. According to the local council, if the institution’s students figure drops to below 25, it may be forced to close and students would be moved to the nearest school in Arvidsjaur, around 40 km away. The families must have children in the range of primary school age (6 to 15 years old) who will attend the local school for a minimum of one academic year.
