things for foreigners in Denmark to learn. Derek gets feedback on how he handled an interaction with Danish colleagues early in his
time living in Denmark. Lita and Helen share valuable insights into Danish culture when it comes to humor and how to navigate the direct nature of Danes. You’ll learn what to avoid and how to handle Danish humor in your professional and personal life as well as the way
people use humor to socialize you in Denmark.

Are Danes as funny as they think? Navigating Danish humor (part 2)

This episode continues the conversation with Lita and Helen, authors of Danish Humor: Sink or
Swim. In the discussion, Derek learns more about the positive sides of Danish humor as Lita and Helen explain the ways in which humor can help us find camaraderie. No mater our culture, we all laugh and benefit from humor. The challenge for internationals living in Denmark is finding out how to interpret the humor they are surrounded by. Since Danes have the benefit of growing up with this humor, there is less of an adjustment, but our Danish friends and colleagues need to better understand how they are perceived. The responsibility is shared, and Lita and Helen do their best to teach us how to meet our obligations to one another in regards to humor in Denmark.
