Norway. The Centre Party, a Eurosceptic and pro-farmer political force, disagreed with the adoption of three EU directives on energy and withdrew its support for the government of Labour’s Jonas Gahr Store. Following Donald Trump‘s threats of new tariffs and on Greenland, the debate on possible EU membership was reignited in Oslo. Trygve Slagsvold Vedum, leader of the Centre Party and Minister of Finance, stated that ‘we must not cede any more power to the EU’. Although outside the EU, Norway is part of the European Economic Zone and adopts most of its directives. Elections are set for 8 September and Store is expected to go ahead until then with a minority government.
