
Known as the ‘iceberg capital of the world‘, Ilulissat (northern Greenland) is a town where friends and neighbours are divided into a dispute over the cruise ships that bring tourists to see its frozen wonders. Local tour operators are being shut out by ‘Greenland Cruises’, a Greenlandic-owned company based in Nuuk, and Danish company ‘Vela Nordic’, who are undercutting local businesses or excluding them entirely.
