Tivoli Friheden, the beloved amusement park in Aarhus, Denmark, has long been a focal point for both locals and tourists. After more than a century of entertaining generations, the park has entered a new chapter: it has been sold to Rutsjebanen ApS, a newly founded company owned by local investors Henrik Rasmussen, Jakob Christensen, Morten Dige Have, and Poul Steffensen. While the sale price has not been disclosed, the former owners stated that Rutsjebanen ApS submitted a “significantly higher” bid than the competing offer. The new owners have pledged to preserve Tivoli Friheden’s spirit and continue its tradition of bringing joy to Aarhus, while also expanding seasonal events such as Halloween and Christmas celebrations, along with large-scale concerts and cultural shows. The acquisition follows a record-breaking 2024, when Tivoli Friheden welcomed more than 697,000 visitors and achieved pre-tax earnings of 6.8 million kroner (around €1 million), marking the best financial result in its 120-year history. With new local ownership and strong community ties, Tivoli Friheden appears well positioned to build on its success and further strengthen its role as a cultural and entertainment landmark in Aarhus.
