Severe weather swept across the Nordic region as Storm Johannes battered large parts of Sweden, Norway, and Finland, bringing strong winds, power outages, and deadly incidents. In Sweden, three men died in separate accidents caused by falling trees, while more than 40,000 homes lost electricity and rail services were disrupted. Norway’s northern Nordland region saw over 200 weather-related emergency callouts and widespread blackouts. In Finland, where the storm was named Hannes, over 60,000 households were left without power, and flights at Kittilä Airport were temporarily grounded after aircraft were blown off the runway.
