Shoreline Films recently released (online) the animated Christmas film “Faith and The Christmas Star.”

Anne Trenning is the executive producer of this 22 minutes, 2D hand drawn animation with an original orchestrated soundtrack, also composed by Trenning. Although not set in the Nordics, this short movie has an excellent “winter” vibe, with a Nordic type countryside, a lot of skating, snow activities and a walk through the snow to reach home. While the story is centered around Christmas and attempts to showcase the holiday celebration in all its incantations (including the biblical story), it is not intended to be a “religious” film per se. There is also a universal message of love and peace on earth that attempts to explain that Christmas is really a metaphor for love and that we all convey this spirit in our daily lives. The first half of the film sets up the 2nd half where most of the suspenseful action occurs: a “silent film” with original soundtrack, sound effects, and minimal narration, in which music narrates the story as the action unfolds throughout. “Faith and The Christmas Star” is intended for children aged 5 – 12, but it is also a film for other ages and definitely one which children and parents could watch together and discuss afterwards.
