Bardabunga volcano eruption (Iceland 2019)

The Reykjanes peninsula area police authorities have decided to close access to the eruption site at Meradalir due to southeast winds blowing 13-18 m per second: the strongest winds will be around mountains and in the Reykjanes peninsula, and there will also be rain and low visibility. This is not a travelling weather for vehicles that are sensitive to strong winds, pedestrians or cyclists. According to the ‘Icelandic Tourist Board’ , there were 4.666 hikers at the site yesterday, most of which walked Route A, as recommended by authorites. Read more on Icelandmonitor
