Finnish Americans (Finnish: amerikansuomalaiset) comprise Americans with ancestral roots from Finland or Finnish people who emigrated to and reside in the United States. The Finnish-American population numbers a little bit more than 650,000: many Finnish people historically emigrated to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the Iron Range of northern Minnesota to work in the mining industry, therefore much of the population in these regions remains of Finnish descent.
