The ‘Finlands Swedish Food Academy’ was established in 2020 with the ambition to promote the food and drinking culture for the Swedish speaking population in Finland, to showcase and tell about the ideals of the Finnish-Swedish food culture, its values, historical traditions, contemporary applications of the food heritage and ideas about new innovations rooted in the tradition. The Academy wants to highlight its meal makers, growers and food producers, dishes and meals that has shapen the Finnish-Swedish identity throughout the history, both at home, in public cooking and in the commercial restaurant industry. ‘Finlands Swedish Food Academy’ wants to be an advocate for the Swedish speaking population in Finland so that they can take care of, and being aware of their cultural rights and can preserve and develop their own food culture, both inside and outside Finland.
