Reykjavík’s children cultural festival was launched at Harpa, with 1600 fourth grade children from the city’s schools attending the festival’s opening event, inaugurated by Mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson. The festival lasts for six days, takes place in many parts of the city and the events (performances, circuses, book readings, treasure hunts and swimming pool discos) are all free. All festival’s events have a common theme of being performed with children or with children in mind. The song ‘Dear World’ was composed for the festival by Vigdís Hafliðadóttir and Ragnhildur Veigarsdóttir of the band “FLOTT”, in collaboration with fourth grade children from Reykjavík.
