The yellow stripe across the corner appeared on ‘LEGOLAND‘ branded sets during the 1980s, an appealing detail integrated effectively.

Introduced during 1989, pirates remain among the most acclaimed LEGO themes: ‘Pirates of Barracuda Bay’ set (21322) celebrates this splendid legacy by updating and paying homage to certain popular sets through copious enjoyable references, including modern variants of some interesting minifigures. The updated design features brighter colours and may be transformed into the marauding Black Seas Barracuda with ease: the resulting structure includes extensive detail and looks absolutely spectacular!

The minifigures: Captain Redbeard looks a bit older but is instantly recognizable with his green cravat, hook, pegleg and new torso print. He comes with his crew, and this time around they are all named and have backstories in the instruction manual.

Armament is oddly missing from the new ship: despite the set including three cannons, none of them make the transition to the assembled ship. A real shame is that the sails are printed on one side only.
