
Icelandair just celebrated five years of regular direct service between Reykjavík and Dublin: launched with six weekly flights, the operation has been ramped up to nine weekly flights, from next June. There has been considerable attention on the Dublin-Reykjavík route: firstly, there are many Irish visitors heading to Reykjavík to see Iceland’s wonders; second, Icelandair has also connected them well to Greenland. Third, Keflavík International Airport is also an excellent transit hub for North American destinations, and this explains why Icelandair offers a stopover program in Iceland, with no additional fees required, allowing those transiting to see Iceland for up to a week, before they depart again. Last year, over 6.1 million passengers flew through Keflavik International Airport, a 182% increase from 2021, just a million lower than the pre-pandemic number of 7.2 million.
