Swedish Olympic silver medallist Simon Pettersson has been removed from the men’s discus final at the World Athletics Championships: his qualifying throw 63.93 metres was deemed to be a foul by the Jury of Appeal, after an overnight appeal by New Zealand. Petterson’s second-best effort of 62.53 put him 21st, outside the top-12 qualifiers for the final.
