Due to falling freight rates and demand, Danish shipping giant Mærsk will cut another 3,500 jobs. The company already reduced its workforce by 6,500 earlier this year as part of ‘stringent cost-cutting measures’, but further redundancies are necessary. This brings Mærsk‘s total global workforce to below 100,000: around 2,500 of the latest 3,500 announced cuts will be made in the coming months, with the remainder in 2024. The latest quarterly results revealed a slump in profits and turnover.
