Stig Dagerman in Kerné (summer 1948). Picture by Annemarie Götze

Stig Dagerman was a literary phenomenon who took his own life when he was 31. A hundred years after his birth, Diego Courchay goes in search of his typewriter to make sense of his life and enduring legacy.

That is the premise of the story we are sharing with you today. It revolves around an object, a writer’s tool, pursued with the stubborn hope of it somehow leading us back to that author, who was called “The Nordic Rimbaud” in France.

This story is written by Diego Courchay and published by Delacorte Review in collaboration with LitHub
