Statistics Iceland. From 2022 to 2023, life expectancy for women decreased by 0.1 years while it decreased by 0.4 for men. Life expectancy at birth measures how long, on average, people can expect to live based on population age-specific mortality rates. During the past 30 years, life expectancy in Iceland has increased by six and four years for men and women respectively: in 2023, the life expectancy in Iceland was 80.7 years for men and 83.8 years for women.
