A Swedish court has sentenced Rasmus Paludan, a far-right politician and leader of the Danish party Stram Kurs, to four months in prison for inciting hatred against Muslims. This ruling marks the first conviction in Sweden related to Qur’an burnings, specifically for actions during protests in 2022. The Malmö district court found Paludan guilty of two counts of incitement against an ethnic group and ordered him to pay damages totaling approximately €7,000. He plans to appeal the verdict while maintaining that his actions were intended as criticism of Islam rather than an attack on individuals.
