Starting 17 June, Finland will enforce new laws regulating electric scooter use. The updated rules set a minimum age of 15 to operate an e-scooter. If a child under 15 is caught riding one, their parent or guardian may be fined €40–60, with possible penalties also for rental companies. The law also introduces a blood alcohol limit of 0.5‰ for all riders and allows police to fine intoxicated cyclists and scooter users. Municipalities gain more control over scooter rental operations, including licensing and speed limits, while helmet use is now officially recommended.
