
Denmark is set to become the first European country to amend copyright law so individuals automatically own the rights to their own physical likeness—including body, facial features, and voice. The proposed bill, backed by a strong majority in parliament, aims to curb misuse of generative AI that produces deepfake videos, images, or audio without consent. Once passed, individuals can demand removal of unauthorized deepfakes and seek compensation. Importantly, the law maintains exemptions for parody and satire. Denmark plans to promote similar protections across the EU during its upcoming presidency.
