Danish indie-rock mainstays Mellemblond are set to release their seventh studio album, ‘Sikke En Dag’, on May 22nd. The eight-track collection marks a highly anticipated return to the band’s original 2008 debut lineup, reuniting frontman Kristoffer Munck Mortensen with multi-instrumentalist Silas Tinglef and bassist Jens Hein. The upcoming album promises a concentrated, timeless listening experience that allows Mortensen’s vivid, poetic lyrics to take center stage.
A Family Affair and Notable Collaborations
In addition to the core trio, Sikke En Dag weaves a rich tapestry of musical contributions. Notably, Mortensen’s brother, Jakob Munck—a formally trained classical musician from The Royal Danish Academy—joins the project to lend his sonorous trombone playing to several tracks.
“Since our early days at Herlev Musikskole, Jakob and I have taken different paths in music,” says Kristoffer Munck Mortensen. “Now our paths meet on this album.“
The record also boasts impressive guest appearances, including electronic icon Trentemøller and Anna Brønsted (Our Broken Garden). Brønsted features on the upcoming focus track, “Flygtigt forår,” an adventurous, straight-forward duet elevated by her bright, airy vocal performance.

Track-by-Track Sonic Exploration
Sikke En Dag is produced by Silas Tinglef and Kristoffer Munck Mortensen and recorded in July 2025 at Silas’ studio in Amager. The vivid lyrics are given room to breathe in a varied collection of songs that are both immediate and reflective: you can dance to “Let” and cry to “Lykkelige igen.” The title track “Sikke en dag” leans into a solid groove while contemplating existence, whereas “Til troende” sends the listener back to the psychedelic rock of the 1960s. On “Sidder i mørket,” urban loneliness is countered by a bossa nova beat and an Italian mandolin atmosphere, while “Sensommerserenade” paints a warm August evening in Christianshavn. “Ikke se” is a winter song wrapped in morning darkness and melancholy around a catchy theme by Trentemøller, while “Flygtigt forår” opens toward the light with Anna Brønsted’s airy vocals.
