It is estimated that this summer traffic through Keflavík Airport will go back to around 75% of what it was in 2019, before the pandemic. The mayor of Reykjanesbær, Kjartan Már Kjartansson, underlines the importance of the airport for the people of Suðurnes area, as Keflavík hub accounts for about 40% of all economic activity – possibly being the largest workplace in the whole country.
