The first ‘ceremonial flight’ of the newly established Icelandic airline Niceair landed in Akureyri on May the 30th from Lisbon. Niceair started regular flights on June the 2nd from its base in Akureyri and flies to Copenhagen, London, Manchester (from next Autumn) and Tenerife. Iceland’s ‘First Lady’ Eliza Reid attended the ceremony and named the aircraft ‘Súlur’ after the mountain near Akureyri.
