The far-right, populist ‘Sweden Democrats’ party announced a plan to bring immigration to Sweden down to the lowest level in Europe, or ‘close to zero’. According to the party’s leader Jimmie Åkesson, the Swedish law is currently above the most restrictive levels allowed by the EU in several areas: the ambition is to reach the EU’s minimum level and Åkesson expects the Liberals to support this stance. 2022 Swedish election will be held on September 11th.
