A US Air Force reconnaissance RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft flew over Finland on Thursday: it was part of an airspace surveillance cooperation between international partners and the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF). The aircraft entered Finnish airspace from the Gulf of Finland, flying first towards the city of Joensuu before turning north towards Finnish Lapland. Shortly before reaching the town of Utsjoki (north of Finland), the aircraft turned back and flew south along almost the same route. Last month, the same aircraft flew north to south in a line parallel to Finland’s eastern border with Russia.
