Sixty-seven Greenlandic women are demanding compensation from the Danish government for a campaign of forced birth control. According to the Dr radio podcast ‘Spiralkampagnen‘, between 1966 and 1970 at least 4,500 women, some of them teenagers, were implanted with contraceptive coils without their knowledge in order to limit the number of births among the indigenous population. The Copenhagen investigation is expected to be completed in 2025.
