Finland has accused Russia of facilitating the entry of several irregular migrants into its territory and announced that it would close border crossings along its eastern border with Russia. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo spoke of a ‘deliberate’ attitude on the part of the Russian government, adding that the migrants may have been escorted to the border by Russian customs authorities. Orpo also said that his government was taking the situation ‘seriously’ and would take all measures to ensure the security of its borders. Between Monday and Tuesday, 60 people entered Finland without the travel documents required to enter the country, much more than the usual (max) ten people a week.
