Nine out of ten new cars sold in Norway last year were powered only by batteries, bringing the country within reach of its goal of having only electric cars on the road by 2025, according to the Norwegian Road Administration (OFV). In 2024, 88.9% of new cars sold were fully electric, up from 82.4% in 2023. The top selling brands were Tesla, Volkswagen and Toyota, while Chinese electric vehicles now account for nearly 10 % of new car sales.
