The increasing political pressure forced the Faroe Islands to reevaluate their fishery cooperation with Russia. In the end, the Faroe Islands’ government opted to continue their fisheries agreement with Russia despite opposition parties’ earlier stance on the agreement: as confirmed by Árni Skaale, the Faroese Minister of Fisheries, the Islands’ government concluded there was ‘broad’ political support and decided on a new one-year agreement with Russia.
