After a choreographed meeting with the Finnish president, Sauli Niinistö, in Ankara, Turkey’s president Erdoğan has lifted his veto on Finland’s application to join Nato, leaving Sweden’s parallel bid for Nato membership unresolved. The Turkish parliament should vote to back Finland’s application to join, before the Turkish elections in May. Finland would be the 31st member of the alliance.
